In 1969, a small group met to organize an association of high school
soccer coaches with the purpose of encouraging and fostering the growth of soccer in Maryland. Out of that meeting
came the Maryland Association of Coaches of Soccer [MACS]. This organization represents the soccer coaches in
Maryland's public, private and parochial high schools. Many college and university coaches in the state also join.
In addition to providing an opportunity for coaches to meet and share ideas and concerns for promoting soccer at the
high school level throughout Maryland, MACS seeks to provide input on rule changes and other improvements for the
game.
Most importantly, through its association with the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), MACS encourages and recognizes the development of young soccer players
(male and female) from our state with the selection of All-State Teams and All-South and All-America nominations.
Last year MACS enjoyed another banner year. While membership
continues to grow, MACS sponsors activities like the All-State Games, the All-State Banquet and the Membership
Reception at the National Convention of the NSCAA.
The M.A.C.S. All-State Banquet will be held on Monday, January 26,
2009 at Michael's 8th Avenue in Glen Burnie. The All-State athletes are all invited to attend. The deadline for the receipt of ticket orders is January 14, 2009.
Directions to Michael's 8th Avenue can be found on their website [www.michaelseighthavenue.com].
It is our hope that this year will bring even greater involvement by
coaches throughout the entire state and even more successes for the association. As you look over the various "pages"
of this site you will see many opportunities to get involved in this worthwhile organization. We are always looking
for new members to get involved in promoting "the beautiful game". A membership application can be downloaded from
this site.

Please complete the membership form and return it as soon as possible.
The fee for this year is $ 25.00 per person. We are again attempting to reach ALL coaches so feel free to make copies
and share with other coaches in your county or league who might have been overlooked. This is especially important
for any new coaches and/or programs.
NOTE: MACS has enjoyed a long and positive relationship with
the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. We encourage all to consider joining this association. It will
not only benefit you as a coach but the players from Maryland also. Please be reminded that for a player to be
considered for national recognition (All-South and/or All-America) their coach MUST be a current member of the
National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
